Developmental Disabilities Resource Center of Calgary (DDRC)

The Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary facilitates personal choice and builds the community's capacity to include persons with developmental disabilities. This means that rather than removing people with developmental disabilities from the heart of the community, DDRC works alongside community members, seeking ways to ensure that all citizens have the opportunity to participate in civic life and to make a contribution. We believe this philosophy and the activities it inspires benefits the entire community. We know that people with disabilities hold tremendous and largely untapped potential to participate and contribute. Given the choice, they wish to join their fellow citizens. And, bit by bit, we see that the community is willing to respond. As well, people with developmental disabilities are developing their own voice and expressing their concerns first-hand - and policy makers are paying attention.
